"Khartoum -- "Osama bin Laden could not have plotted the WTC attacks. Neither did Al Qaeda. It's all a myth created by the West," says Sheikh Hassan Abdallah al-Turbai, the charismatic Sudanese Islamist ideologue who hosted and mentored bin Laden in Khartoum in the early 1990s.

"He came here not to fight. He was building roads and airports and bridges in Sudan. He was a simple man. He could not have done it," Turabi said emphatically to a visiting IANS correspondent when asked whether he thought bin Laden was the key architect of the 9/11 bombings of the World Trade Centre (WTC) in New York that shook the world nearly six years ago. "Anyone who comes here is welcome. Yes, he was angry with the Americans and the British. But he is not the man behind Al Qaeda. Bin Laden comes from southern Saudi Arabia. He hasn't travelled a lot. He is alone," said Turabi, whose niece is married to bin Laden.

Turabi, labelled in the West as the "Black Pope of terrorism," took Osama under his wings after the latter was expelled from Saudi Arabia for protesting the presence of US troops on Saudi soil after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.

According to the US 9/11 Commission Report, bin Laden found a haven in Sudan during 1991-1996, a period in which he built a nearly 800-km road from Khartoum to Port Sudan, perfected his jehadi methods and declared a fatwa against the American occupation of Islamic lands.

"He (Bin Laden) may have provided ideological inspiration. But he could not have done it. Every time you are branded as a terrorist, you awaken to your identity," said Turabi, dressed in the traditional Sudanese white robe gelabiya.

Bin Laden, the terror mastermind, was a myth invented by the Americans, said Turabi.

"After the collapse of communism, they were looking for a target. They found it in bin Laden. The devil is now everywhere. Bin Laden is a myth. It's like Che Guevara. It's an image," said Turabi, who speaks five languages and studied law in the University of London and later acquired a PhD from the Sorbonne.

"Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released new documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation ("FBI") related to the "expeditious departure" of Saudi nationals, including members of the bin Laden family, from the United States following the 9/11 attacks. According to one of the formerly confidential documents, dated 9/21/2001, terrorist Osama bin Laden may have chartered one of the Saudi flights.

The document states: "ON 9/19/01, A 727 PLANE LEFT LAX, RYAN FLT #441 TO ORLANDO, FL W/ETA (estimated time of arrival) OF 4-5PM. THE PLANE WAS CHARTERED EITHER BY THE SAUDI ARABIAN ROYAL FAMILY OR OSAMA BIN LADEN…THE LA FBI SEARCHED THE PLANE [REDACTED] LUGGAGE, OF WHICH NOTHING UNUSUAL WAS FOUND." The plane was allowed to depart the United States after making four stops to pick up passengers, ultimately landing in Paris where all passengers disembarked on 9/20/01, according to the document.

Overall, the FBI's most recent document production includes details of the six flights between 9/14 and 9/24 that evacuated Saudi royals and bin Laden family members. The documents also contain brief interview summaries and occasional notes from intelligence analysts concerning the cursory screening performed prior to the departures. According to the FBI documents, incredibly not a single Saudi national nor any of the bin Laden family members possessed any information of investigative value.

Moreover, the documents contain numerous errors and inconsistencies which call to question the thoroughness of the FBI's investigation of the Saudi flights. For example, on one document, the FBI claims to have interviewed 20 of 23 passengers on the Ryan International Airlines flight (commonly referred to as the "Bin Laden Family Flight"). On another document, the FBI claims to have interviewed 15 of 22 passengers on the same flight.

"Eight days after the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Osama bin Laden possibly charters a flight to whisk his family out of the country, and it's not worth more than a luggage search and a few brief interviews?" asked Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Clearly these documents prove the FBI conducted a slapdash investigation of these Saudi flights. We'll never know how many investigative leads were lost due to the FBI's lack of diligence."

U.S. District Court Judge Richard W. Roberts ordered the FBI to resubmit "proper disclosures" to the Court and Judicial Watch, having previously criticized the adequacy of redaction descriptions, the validity of exemption claims, and other errors in the FBI's disclosures. Incredibly, the FBI had previously redacted Osama bin Laden's name from the records in order "to protect privacy interests."

The latest version of the FBI documents, obtained under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act and through ongoing litigation (Judicial Watch v. Department of Homeland Security & Federal Bureau of Investigation, No. 04-1643 (RWR)) is available.

"For millions of people seeking the truth about September 11, 2001, the videotape released by the Department of Defense on December 13, 2001 in which Osama bin Laden confesses to prior knowledge of 9/11 has been a powerful talking point when making the case that the government is covering up what actually happened on that notorious day.

Many in the global movement to discover the truth about 9/11 have referred to this video as the fat bin Laden video, including yours truly. When we see frames from the video... any person with eyes can look and see that the bin Laden in the video appears much fatter than any other known image of Osama:

... it occurred to me that since the tape was recorded in the Pakistan region, it was likely recorded in PAL video format. In the United States, we use the NTSC format. The difference is primarily that the standard PAL format has the same spatial resolution horizontally, but vertically it has a higher spatial resolution (720 x 576 for PAL – 720 x 480 for NTSC) than doe NTSC. Many PAL and NTSC converters simply eliminate the extra horizontal lines from the PAL format in order to conform to the NTSC format. This results in an image that appears to be 'squashed' along the vertical axis…making people and objects look fatter after the conversion.

... A linear interpolation PAL to NTSC conversion method was used in this instance. This method basically eliminates every fifth scan line from the PAL video, thus matching it to the number of scan lines for the NTSC video standard (480 lines for NTSC versus 576 for PAL). Besides linear interpolation, there are other conversion methods and software that might have been employed to accomplish the same distorted effect on the original video. Tremblay is basing this conclusion on the following probabilities:


a. The video was made in Afghanistan or Pakistan and therefore was likely shot in PAL standard format
b. The video that was delivered to him is now in NTSC digital format, so at some point it was likely converted from PAL to an NTSC
c. If one assumes that linear interpolation was used to sample down the PAL image to fit the NTSC format, and since scaling the vertical dimension of the video appropriately reestablishes the known proportions of the people who are purported to appear in the video, then he personally finds that sufficient confirmation that this process (or a similar process) was indeed applied to the original video causing it to be out of proportion in the vertical dimension.

Basically, the reason why Osama bin Laden looks fat in the video, and in some frames particularly fat, is because of the camera angle, shadowing and lighting, and the fact that the PAL to NTSC conversion squashed the vertical by 17 percent while the horizontal proportion remained the same as the original. ..

With the aspect corrected, the dimensional features of Osama bin Laden match other known images of him as illustrated:

It is Osama bin Laden, as well as Suleiman Abu Ghaith, Khaled Al-Harbi, and Ayman Al-Zawahiri in this video. The video was most likely taped on September 26, 2001. The taping was a sting operation that involved U.S. and Saudi and/or Pakistani intelligence – which means that the United States had Osama bin Laden in its sights prior to the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan but passed on capturing or killing him in favor of invading. . .

Leading 9/11 researcher Killtown and Revere Radio host Roxdog recently teamed up to create a memorial page on MySpace for murdered Yale student Suzanne Jovin. The page publicized the $100,000 reward for information leading to her killer. The only viable suspect was a top-level Pentagon operative, James van de Velde, who at the time -- 1998 -- was serving as a Yale professor and Jovin's thesis advisor. Jovin was brutally stabbed to death blocks from van de Velde's home after she gave him a copy of her thesis on Osama bin Laden. Van de Velde left Yale in disgrace to take a top position at the Pentagon.

Now, we learn from Killtown blogspot :

"The memorial site (cached) I had set up in memory of Suzanne Jovin to help bring back awareness to her unsolved brutal murder just got axed by MySpace.

Here is the letter MySpace sent to me although the site I had set up didn't commit any of the violations mentioned in their email:

The [James Randi cultists] had gone ballistic when they heard I had site up a memorial/investigation site at MySpace to bring back awareness for this poor girl who was brutally stabbed 17 times in which her killer was never found. They wanted so desperately for MySpace to take it down so Suzanne's unsolved murder would go back in the memory hole and they finally got their wish today. So now they can all sleep well knowing that the only memorial/investigation site on the internet to help bring awareness to her unsolved brutal murder got axed. I'm sure her killer is very happy about this too.
